Gilgit-Baltistan Postpones Local Government Election Schedule by Seven Days
GILGIT: The Election Commission of Gilgit-Baltistan has announced the delay of the already underway schedule of local government elections by seven days.
It came after the Regional government had asked for more time to finalise and consider Gilgit-Baltistan Local Government Act, 2014 changes.
All electoral activities, stages, which were affected during this seven-day period, will be adjusted and their new dates will be included in a newly updated program of elections, the Election Commission said. At the end of this extension period, the commission will post a new poll schedule.
The authorities confirmed that the upcoming electoral events and voting process will be carried out in line with the updated schedule. For official information on voting procedures, announcements and regional voting, please refer to the Gilgit-Baltistan Election Commission.
