Petrol Relief Program: SMS-Based Token Redemption Approved for Fuel Pumps in Internet-Deprived Areas Under Ishaq Dar’s Directives
ISLAMABAD: Implementation of the Prime Minister’s special fuel relief scheme has been expedited, with the National Steering Committee, headed by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, unanimously approving the introduction of SMS-based fuel token redemption in petrol pumps in the areas without internet connectivity.
A committee headed by a high official chaired a meeting to review the implementation of the special relief package, during which it was informed that a huge number of petrol stations across the country are already connected to the digital system and citizens are already using their fuel tokens. Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and the provinces have also been asked to provide lists of remote filling stations which are not having internet facilities with them so that they can be immediately included in the scheme.

In the session, SBP officials revealed that all claims received within the last three days have been processed and settled in full and that all claims received on a daily basis are being settled and processed on the same day.
Ishaq Dar gives strict operational directions, instructing all functioning petrol stations to be part of the relief system. Meanwhile, he tasked the authorities to list and eliminate petrol pumps and diesel-only stations which have been closed for good reasons from the official list, saying that the relief package benefits should be delivered to deserving citizens without any obstruction or delay.
