Former Israeli Defense Minister Files Petition for Treason Investigation Against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu; Accuses Him of Trying to Drag Israel Into War With Iran Ahead of Elections

TEL AVIV: Former Israeli Defense Minister and opposition leader Avigdor Lieberman formally petitioned for an investigation into Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s alleged betrayal, an escalation of his political woes. In a highly caustic comment posted on social media, Avigdor Lieberman claimed that Netanyahu is trying to provoke Israel into a major military confrontation with Iran, only to be afraid of losing future elections.

In the last month, the prime minister has been pushing the security establishment “with all his force” to take “dangerous measures” that could lead to a potential military escalation with Tehran, Liberman said.

Elecoral Panic: Lieberman claimed Netanyahu knows he is on his way to an electoral loss, which is the reason for his current political frenzy and a push to bring the country to war.

Former Defense Minister: Netanyahu is committing “blatant treason” against Israel and its soldiers in order to “satisfy his own political needs,” Willingness To Sacrifice Soldiers said in response to Netanyahu’s actions.

Netanyahu Pressuring Security Chiefs: The petition and public statements suggest Netanyahu has been calling on defense and intelligence chiefs to take “provocative steps” which calls for immediate legal and criminal review of the Netanyahu administration’s wartime decision-making.
