Field Marshal Asim Munir Meets Iranian President and Key Leaders, Discusses De-escalation and Reopening of Strait of Hormuz
TEHRAN: The official visit of the Chief of Army Staff (CAS) and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has come to a successful end in the Islamic Republic of Iran. He met a number of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and other high- and medium-ranking political and military officials during the high-level visit to discuss comprehensive measures for averting further regional escalation and for urgently ending the current conflict, and for reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that Field Marshal Asim Munir took with him Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi. When the Field Marshal arrived in Tehran, he was warmly welcomed by Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni and other high-ranking Iranian civilian and military officials.
High level meetings and strategic talks.
The military’s media wing said that the military met “with Iran’s supreme national security council representative, Masoud Pezeshkian, the Iranian parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the Iranian foreign minister and the country’s interior minister” extensively.
The meetings highlighted a strong emphasis on the need to prevent further escalation, reopen the Strait of Hormuz, and take comprehensive measures to find a lasting solution to the crisis. The two sides also discussed means of regional security, urging to resolve disputes peacefully through continuous diplomacy.
Appreciation for Pakistan’s Constructive Role
The Iranian leadership acknowledged Pakistan’s sincere efforts and constructive diplomatic role in easing tensions and holding dialogue to find a peaceful solution to the region’s conflict, according to ISPR.
