Digital Monitoring to Be Introduced in Federal Hospitals Following PIMS Tragedy
ISLAMABAD: The Federal Ministry of Health has resolved to convert the administrative and operational systems of public sector hospitals to full digitalization after the recent tragedy of PIMS.
The Ministry of Health’s officials say digital technology is being put to use to spot vulnerabilities in hospitals and better manage administrative oversight. A robust monitoring framework will be put in place to monitor hospital performance, citizen complaints and day to day administrative activities.
The DCI has sought consultation from Pakistan Digital Authority regarding these issues.
Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal met with Chairman Pakistan Digital Authority, Dr. Sohail Munir at a key meeting. In the meeting, both sides discussed the use of modern technology and digitalization in the government institutions and hospitals system.
The Ministry of Health has officially resolved to get support from Pakistan Digital Authority to lead the transition and preparations are underway for a centralized digital platform for hospital operations and administration.
AI-Driven Complaint Management System
The ministry is also mulling to launch a complaint management system with the help of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in public hospitals, officials said. This will involve using AI agents for citizen grievance calls, and streamlining citizen grievance registration, monitoring, and quick resolution through the use of AI technology.
However, health ministry officials highlighted that strict and tough measures would be taken to gradually reform the public health system and provide citizens with high-quality health services.
