Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar Terms Question of Governor’s Rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Premature, Highlights Severe Governance Failures
ISLAMABAD: While strongly condemning the provincial government for significant governance failures and security lapses, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has said that the prospect of Governor’s Rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is premature at this time.
The provincial government has completely failed to prevent terrorism across the province, the Information Minister said in a statement in the Pakistani capital of Islamabad.

Allocation of Counter-Terrorism Funds: Tarar said that significant amounts of money had been assigned under the National Finance Commission (NFC) award each year only to be used for counter-terrorism and security measures in the country; however, substantial terrorist attacks continue to occur in areas like Kohat and Dera Ismail Khan.
Failure to protect citizens: The KP government has neither taken any meaningful step to eradicate terrorism nor did it show any serious concern on the matter, Tarar said, adding that partisan politics should never take precedence over human lives. He called on provincial authorities to act with wisdom and leave politics behind and visit areas where innocent lives are being lost.
Minister’s Eulogy for Opposition’s Political Strength: Minister also expressed doubts about the political organisation of the leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in the event of an organised long march in the future.
