Federal Government Seeks Details on Foreign Citizenship and Travel Documents of Civil Servants and Dependents

Federal Government Directs Collection of Foreign Citizenship and Travel Document Details for Civil Servants and Dependents; Non-Compliance or False Declarations to Be Deemed Misconduct

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has set in motion the process to collect full information on civil servants and dependent family members, regarding their foreign citizenship, travel documents and marital records.

In response to this, the Establishment Division has issued an official memorandum to all Federal ministries and divisions to consolidate and submit the service records of the subordinate officers.

The following are some of the highlights of the Establishment Division’s Memorandum on Civil Servants.
Civil servants must disclose any foreign citizenship they hold or that their dependents do, as well as if they have foreign travel documents held, and information on their marriages to foreigners, the official memorandum said. All submissions should be in a prescribed format.

Required Record Details: All Ministries and divisions have been asked to submit comprehensive information about officers—such as officer’s name, designation, basic pay scales (BPS), and whether they are in compliance. The citizenship and travel document status of dependents will also be a part of the official record.

Strict Deadlines and Penalties: The memorandum provides for declarations to be made within 90 days after the rules have been published in the official gazette. The administration has made it clear that the failure to submit the declaration or giving false information amounts to misconduct and will be treated as such – with disciplinary action.
