ISLAMABAD ; In quarterly adjustments, the electricity is expected to get costlier by Rs1.34 per unit every month for three months which may add an extra financial burden to the power consumers of Pakistan.

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has kept its counsel on the petitions made by power distribution companies (DISCOs), according to sources. The regulator said it will come to a final and formal conclusion after a comprehensive and detailed review of the data.

The decision for the quarter adjustment, if accepted, will add about Rs34 billion more to the power bills of consumers across the country.
