Bad News for Electricity Consumers: Tariff Increased by Over Rs2 Per Unit on Account of July Fuel Adjustment
ISLAMABAD: The hike in electricity rates comes as yet another shock to the consumers of this commodity in Rs2.06 per unit for single month due to fuel price adjustment (FCA) for July.
The upward tariff revision has been made due to the monthly fuel cost revision for July, according to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA).This price increase will impact the country and extra financial burden for K-Electric customers.
NEPRA has officially released a notification about the adjustment. The adjustment will be implemented on the electricity bills of the consumers in September month and the extra burden on the consumers will be around Rs33 billion per month.
NEPRA also approved a hike of 52 paise per unit for the change in tariff in the quarter end of September to November 2026, in a separate order. The regulator has informed the Federal government of its final decision on the quarterly adjustment.
This quarterly adjustment will continue from September till November 2026, and will also be applicable to K-Electric consumers, adding an additional financial impact of Rs12.67 billion. The adjustments, taken together, add up to Rs2.58 to the cost of power.
