Direct Shipping Service from Karachi Port to Europe Restored; Connectivity Re-established with Seven European Ports

KARACHI: After many efforts by the federal government, direct weekly shipping services between Karachi Port and European destinations have officially resumed and re-established the important shipping lanes with seven major European ports.

Global shipping line MSC has started its ‘IPAK’ premium service with direct weekly sailings from its Karachi Gateway Terminal to Europe, according to Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Junaid Anwar Chaudhry.

What’s New in the Restored Shipping Service.
As a result of the restoration of this direct sea line, the country’s export industry is expected to get much-needed relief, greatly easing the transportation of textiles and other major export items to European markets.

Improved Trade Efficiency: The weekly service will make a significant impact on the Pakistani exporters by eliminating the need for any indirect transshipment procedures, thereby cutting down on time and cost of transit.

Ministerial Appreciation: Federal Minister Junaid Anwar Chaudhry spoke highly of the active efforts and coordination by Chairman Karachi Port Trust (KPT) and the management of Karachi Gateway Terminal Limited (KGTL) to make the resumption possible.
