Diesel Price Reduction of 30 to 32 Rupees Per Liter Expected Soon: Ali Pervaiz Malik
ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik has said that the price of diesel is likely to be reduced by Rs 30-32 per litre in the near future. Ali Pervaiz Malik, who was joined by Attaullah Tarar in a joint press conference in the federal capital, said the government fully aware of the issues of the public and indeed difficult times will come to an end, and the government was making concerted efforts to ease the problems of the people and bring relief to them.
He said the government had given the people some relief in the form of targeted subsides, saying the government had not left people behind. He said that many countries around the world are having difficulties, even oil producers such as Russia.
Oil Refineries Negotiations and OGRA Notification
Two to three meetings were subsequently held with the officials of the oil refineries on the directives of the PM with the result that the oil refineries agreed to reduce the price of diesel by Rs 30 to 32 per litre, the Federal Minister for Petroleum said.
He also stated that a huge cut on the price of diesel is in the offing, and Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) will notify it today.
Federal Minister For Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar informed that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif presided over an important meeting today attended by Petroleum Minister and other relevant officials. He pointed out that the Prime Minister has always been sensitive to the hardships of the people and has continued to provide relief to the public as far as possible even in the country’s most difficult situation.
Because of the conflicts in the region the prices of the oil products have gone up in the world, but the government is trying to make efforts to dampen the impacts of the higher prices on the public, the Information Minister said. Attaullah Tarar also shared that OGRA will decide on the price cut of diesel, hoping for more positive news for the masses in the next few days.
