Deputy PM Ishaq Dar Discusses Regional Situation and Maritime Security with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, Explores Economic Cooperation with Malaysia
ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar met Foreign Ministers of Iran, Abbas Araghchi, and Malaysia, Mohamad Hasan, over the telephone, where they discussed regional developments, energy security and bilateral economic cooperation.
Foreign Office spokesman stated that in his meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Ishaq Zarif, he spoke about the “changing regional landscape. The Deputy Prime Minister emphasised the broader implications for the development of other economies and global supply chains, while also calling for the uninterrupted supply of energy and the safe passage of merchant vessels.
Highlighting aspects of Diplomacy and the upcoming UNGA Meetings
Ishaq Dar restated that there are two options for achieving long lasting peace and stability in the region – dialogue and proactive diplomacy. Both sides concurred to have a formal in-person meeting on the sidelines of the upcoming United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.
Telephonic Call with FM of Malaysia
Ishaq Dar and Malaysian Foreign Minister Mohamad Hasan, in another voice call, discussed the need to boost bilateral trade and deepen economic cooperation. Both dignitaries agreed to keep the high-level diplomatic communication to deepen bilateral relations, and also set the date of holding a bilateral meeting during the UNGA session in New York.
