Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Inaugurates Jinnah Institute of Cardiology
LAHORE: The Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif has officially opened the new and modern Jinnah Institute of Cardiology in Lahore.
At the inaugural ceremony, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said that this top-notch medical facility was a personal dream as cardiovascular diseases are becoming common and impacting many households around the country. She said that the institute provides special cardiac treatment to patients from all over Pakistan. She said that the government is promoting welfare programs and free health care and medicines are being distributed in all parts of Punjab and political parties must focus on providing services rather than engaging in political warfare.

The Chief Minister said that the facility would begin performing heart transplants from tomorrow and a dedicated fund will be set up to defray high costs of heart transplant. She emphasized that the institute has modern hybrid catheterization laboratory, sterile wards of the highest international standards, and up-to-date machinery.
Moreover, CM Maryam revealed that more than 12,000 paediatric heart surgeries have been carried out in provincial hospitals and medical personnel have been trained internationally. She said that 16 catheterisation labs are running in the province of Punjab and the province is going to introduce home dialysis program in parallel with the successful air ambulance service.
