Increasing Number of Provinces is Not a Cure for Economic Woes, Says PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto
LONDON: In response to the current national debate on the formation of new provinces, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that public welfare and democracy are more important than the increase of administrative units in the country.
While addressing media representatives in London, Bilawal pointed out that the Punjab and Sindh provincial assemblies have already unanimously passed resolutions on the issue and reiterated that the sentiments of the general mass and elected representatives hold paramount importance for the PPP.
Addressing Economic Hardships and Democratic Power
The PPP chairman stated that administrative provinces being established are not a magic bullet for immediate national problems like inflation, unemployment and systemic poverty.
The political and economic future of the nation cannot be left in the hands of a few corporate figures, Bilawal said, adding that the true solutions could only be found in democracy and collective empowerment of the people.

In the recent governance issue, Bilawal Bhutto moved formally for holding comprehensive debate in the National Assembly on Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi’s remarks on the system failures.
We want this issue to be discussed in the National Assembly in a proper manner on the floor of the house and we want the federal ministers to do this regularly,” Bilawal said, urging them to engage the parliament.
