Punjab Chief Minister’s Statement on Terrorism is Biased and Calls for an Apology: Barrister Gohar
ISLAMABAD: Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has strongly condemned the remarks made by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on the issue of terrorism, which he has demanded to be unconditionally apologized by her.
In a media interaction outside the Supreme Court, Barrister Gohar revealed that the entire nation is aware of India’s involvement in terrorist activities in Pakistan while the Chief Minister of Punjab’s claim is a far cry from the real situation.
Avoiding political point-scoring on security
The PTI chairman said terrorism is a serious issue of national security, and should not be “politicised” or controversialised.
I condemned the biased statement made by the Punjab Chief Minister,” Gohar added, “If any common man or any political leader other than the ruling party had made such comments, legal action and an FIR would have been taken without any delay. He said that it was essential that a leader did not make any half-truths on sensitive issues.
Recognizing the sacrifices of the war on terror.
Reiterating Pakistan’s strong position against cross-border terrorism, Barrister Gohar argued that the country had been witnessing unparalleled sacrifices on the front of armed forces and the nation as a whole in the battle against terrorism and their historical evidence pointed towards India’s support of the networks of militants by its intelligence agency RAW.
He ended by calling upon the political leadership in all provinces to take a serious attitude to internal security as against a divisionism.
