Balochistan Government Imposes Section 144 Province-Wide to Maintain Law and Order, Banning Public Gatherings and Face Coverings
QUETTA: The Balochistan government has imposed Section 144 of the Pakistan Police Act, 1958, in the province without any delay in a big administrative move, to ensure public safety and security and maintain law and order.
The official notification by the Balochistan Home Department states that the ban is to be effective in all districts of the province. The guidelines state that measures should be taken to prevent any potential security threats and to ensure public peace.
The key restrictions in Section 144 are discussed.
Public Gatherings: The assembly of five or more persons in any public place has been completely banned and with it the use of “dharnas” (sit-downs), rallies and other public demonstrations and protests.
All kinds of open weapon display and carrying of firearms in public places are completely prohibited (weapon display).
Face Coverings: The notification makes it clear that people should not cover their faces or wear full face coverings or devices in public areas that prevent identification and security checkpoints.
Strict Enforcement Measures
The Section 144 is implemented immediately after 23rd September 2026 and will be in effect during the designated period. The provincial government has stated it will take action through the relevant laws against those who violate.
All police forces and districts in the province are asked to carry out the orders with unwavering commitment.
