Awami National Party Balochistan President Asghar Khan Achakzai Arrested From Courtroom in Chaman; Interim Bail Cancelled in Murder and Kidnapping Case
CHAMAN: Awami National Party (ANP) Balochistan President Asghar Khan Achakzai has been arrested by Balochistan Police and handed over to jail after an interim bail was cancelled.
It has been revealed that the District and Sessions Court at Chaman had turned down bail application filed by the senior political leader and directed his immediate arrest in the court premises. Asghar Khan Achakzai, who is also a former Balochistan Assembly member, was booked in for murder and kidnapping charges, police officials said, in a connection with a killing a year ago of a local man named Taimur Shah, which was related to a tribal dispute.
On account of the cancellation of his pre-arrest bail by the sessions court, the police took Achakzai into custody immediately from the inside of the courtroom, and not from the premises of the court.
The ANP leader has been booked into police custody on two charges: murder (Section 302) and kidnapping (Section 365), police said on the complaint of the victim’s father Zahir Shah.Apprehended, the ex-lawmaker was moved to the Chaman Bypass police lock-up where he was kept under tight security to await further legal action.
