AJK Home Department Announces Phased Restoration of Internet Services Starting Today
MUZAFFARABAD:The AJK Home Department has officially announced that the internet services will be restored in the state from today on a phased basis, keeping the promise it made to the people made by the newly elected Prime Minister Barrister Iftikhar Gilani.
According to the official notification issued by the AJK Home Department, internet services have been completely restored in the Neelum district of the Muzaffarabad Division, as well as in the Haveli Kahuta district.

It was also informed that all broadband services using DSL technology have been restored in Mirpur and Bhimber. Meanwhile, DSL services are being restored in Jhelum Valley in Bagh, Dhirkot and Kotli only for the purpose of educational institutions and banking sectors.
Banks and education institutions in these sensitive areas will be given “whitelisted” DSL connections, the Home Department clarified. For their use these services will have to be activated by the respective heads of institutions by submitting a formal affidavit in which they will provide a positive assurance that the internet will not be used for any activity which is against the national interest.
This is the second time that the school has been suspended and the second time the pledge has been made.
On the other hand, the notification said that internet services will be totally suspended in Poonch Division’s Rawalakot and Sudhnoti districts, until further notice.
It is relevant to point out that earlier this week, newly elected AJK Prime Minister Iftikhar Gilani made a public announcement that internet connectivity would be restored in the region in a couple of days to curb the losses in education and business activities.
