KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi Announces Contempt Plea Against Govt

“We Are Going to File a Contempt of Court Petition Against the Government”: Sohail Afridi

PESHAWAR: Opposition has resumed action to file a contempt of court case against the federal government, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa CM Sohail Afridi has said.

In a statement to the media, Chief Minister Afridi insisted that the demand for nationwide demonstrations and a long march on September 27 was strong and intact, and the entire opposition leadership was completely on board with the plan. He condemned the judiciary that it was not giving effect to decisions, saying those in power feel they are above the constitution and the law.

The school must draw up a strategy to address accountability issues and opposition to it, and then implement it.
The Chief Minister said that he would ensure the problem of those who defy the law and judicial direction would be addressed. He said there was a high-level meeting of opposition parties to agree on future political strategies later tonight.

The ongoing courtroom drama and political drama are, according to political commentators, a reflection of growing rifts between the provincial government and the federal government.
