LAHORE: Top women cricketers Gul Feroza and Shawal Zulfiqar say the modern game has become very fast and are readapting their approach to the game accordingly, saying that a strong batting order is critical.
Both cricketers said they are getting great competitive experience in these scenario matches which are being played during the current training camp in Lahore ahead of the upcoming Women’s Asia Cup tournament, with practice matches played against the male players. In the view of Gul Feroza, scenario matches gave a much better idea of the field placements, as the individual performances had improved in order to get more consistent as they strive for improved consistency after a poor performance in the T20 World Cup.
Rehabilitation and positive momentum.
In the meantime, Shawal Zulfiqar spoke about her journey when she came back to the team after missing consecutive matches due to injuries and said that it was physically as well as mentally challenging. She pointed out the resilience and match toughness that has been created in the team by playing alongside the male cricketers.
The batsmen also spoke highly of the thoughts and motivation with which the dressing room had been blessed due to captain Fatima Sana who experienced the Hundred recently.
