Russia and US Agree to Continue Dialogue on Bilateral Ties
MOSCOW: Russia and the United States have agreed to continue their diplomatic dialogue to solve the existing problems and deadlock in bilateral relations, and the process of preparation for contacts between the two countries is underway.
Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova said that Moscow still is willing to have meaningful dialogue with Washington to make progress on key issues and lay the groundwork for normalizing relations. This continuity was discussed by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and agreed to, Zakharova said.
Diplomatic Priorities and Direct Channels
The Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson said the date for the next meeting is being worked out, but he did not provide any logistical information ahead of time, as agreed. She said that the Kremlin believes it is better to keep these talks under the radar.
The negotiation process was started between the Russian Foreign Ministry and the U.S. Department of State in February 2025, at the instruction of both presidents. One of Moscow’s major concerns is to get its seized Russian diplomatic facilities in the United States back and to resume direct commercial flights between the two nations.
