Delimitation Phase for Local Government Elections Completed in Punjab, Records Sent to ECP
LAHORE: A major development has taken place regarding the local government elections in Punjab, with the delimitation phase successfully finalized across the province. The complete records of the finalized constituencies have been officially submitted to the Election Commission of Pakistan.
The delimitation work commenced on April 20, 2026, during which over 150 objections were filed by citizens.
Constituency Breakdown in Lahore
A total of 433 union councils have been established across Lahore:
- Shalimar Town: 72 union councils
- Ravi Town: 52 union councils
- Wagha Town: 25 union councils
- Allama Iqbal Town: 37 union councils
- City Town: 69 union councils
- Raiwind: 32 union councils
- Model Town: 77 union councils
- Nishtar Town: 40 union councils
- Saddar: 29 union councils
According to available records, the number of union councils in Lahore stood at 274 in 2015, which has now increased to 433. With the submission of the delimitation records to the electoral body, a crucial milestone toward holding local government elections in Punjab has been completed.
