Netanyahu and Jared Kushner Meet, Agree on Complete Disarmament of Hamas
GAZA: US special envoy Jared Kushner and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have agreed on the next steps for the Gaza roadmap, including the total disarmament of Hamas, a Board of Peace official has said.
The official told Arab television that it came as a result of a “long meeting” between Jared Kushner and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Before this, Jared Kushner and Board of Peace representative Nickolay Mladenov met with mediators from Egypt, Qatar and Turkiye.
Hamas Delegation Talks and Israeli Stance
Kushner also held a meeting with a Hamas delegation, in which the Hamas party discussed the displacement of the people of Gaza. But Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is thought to have rejected the offer made to the US President’s son-in-law.
According to Israeli media, Netanyahu refused to withdraw Israeli troops from Gaza prior to the disarmament of Hamas. Hamas had previously made two offers to Jared Kushner that it would now accept the idea of removing its weapons from Gaza, provided Israel first pulled its forces out of the area.
