Health Report of PTI Founder Is Extremely Alarming: Sohail Afridi

PESHAWAR: The health reports on the imprisoned founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) are very alarming, says Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi.

Speaking to a press conference along with Junaid Akbar and Asad Qaiser, Sohail Afridi said that a thorough meeting will be held with the personal doctor of the PTI founder, and a definite future course of action will be disclosed after the meeting with the personal doctor, family and legal counsels.

Concerns related to Blood Pressure discrepancies
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister said when Dr. Faisal and Dr. Asim had checked the blood pressure of the founder of PTI so far, his blood pressure was never excessive. However, official medical reports have stated his blood pressure to be 140/100.

Sohail Afridi asked how one can imagine what might be the real situation if the official report says there is blood pressure of 140/100. He highlighted that the PTI chief’s lawyers and his own doctors are having no meetings with him, asserting that his treatment should be done in the presence of his family and own doctor. He said when the PTI founder was arrested, he was in good health, and raised a big question: Who is responsible for his downfall?

Appeal to the Judiciary
The Chief Minister said it was unfortunate the judiciary has not given any attention to the health of the founder of the PTI so far after repeated demands. He said that the judiciary is the “last hope for 250 million citizens” and how an ordinary citizen can expect justice when the most popular leader in the country is denied it.

In this regard, Sohail Afridi said the judiciary should introspect on how it is going and warned that if the judiciary fails to apply the instrument of justice, public will go to their means and methods. He also pointed out that a court hearing is scheduled for the PTI founder, on which he stressed an urgent request to the judiciary to ensure that the family of the founder is granted access to meet with him to ease public concerns.
