PPP Decides to Take Up Azad Kashmir Elections and New Provinces Issue in Parliament
ISLAMABAD; The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has resolved to firmly articulate its political position and disconcensus in Parliament on the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) elections and the current controversy on the establishment of new administrative provinces.
Sources indicate that PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will speak in the National Assembly in the next couple of days, where he will discuss the party’s concerns over AJK elections and accusations that electoral rigging is going on. Sources also say Bhutto Zardari will also brief Bilawal on talks with the federal government on elections and the party will follow up with a plan of action.
Raising the Issue of New Provinces
Moreover, the PPP will voice its official stance on the provinces’ establishment in the hall of the National Assembly. The party parliamentarians will voice their opinions on creating new administrative units and introduce the party’s main policy.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will be making “few speeches” during his speech, sources reiterate, adding that he will go into great detail on the AJK electoral process, formal party quotas, federal government negotiation and the general debate on new provinces.
