Iran and Oman Agree on Navigation Route Map in the Strait of Hormuz
TEHRAN: Official sources report Iran and Oman have agreed on a navigation route map in the Strait of Hormuz.
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said there are no significant barriers in the negotiations, cautioning that negotiations are underway and both sides are progressing. He claimed Iran has nothing to do with the instability in the Strait of Hormuz and blamed the U.S. and Israel.
Baghaei said that the Strait of Hormuz was free from any problems until Feb. 28, but said the US and Israel were using the strait and its neighboring regions against Iran, thereby confirming Tehran’s right to take necessary measures to protect its national security and interests.

In the interim, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi explained that the Saudi port’s opening and negotiating with Oman are two different issues. He said there are technical level talks going on with Oman, particularly in the Strait of Hormuz with regard to maritime traffic.
The Iranian Foreign Minister also pointed out that the opening of the Strait of Hormuz is dependent on the United States as, “The United States must strictly comply with the terms of the memorandum of understanding.
