President Asif Ali Zardari Summons Senate Session

President Asif Ali Zardari Summons Senate Session for Tomorrow at Parliament House

ISLAMABAD:The President, Asif Ali Zardari, has called a meeting of the Senate, which will be held at 4:00 PM tomorrow at Parliament House, Islamabad, under Article 54(1) of the Constitution.

Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani, Chairman Senate will preside over the upper house meeting. The session will include in-depth discussions of domestic and international news, bills under consideration and key national issues.

Legislative Agenda and National Issues
Aside from the general review of the country’s political, economic and security situation, different legislative bills will be tabled during the Senate session. Members of the government and opposition benches in the parliament will address important regional and global issues, discuss important national issues and present the policy frameworks for the future.

The President of Pakistan may summon either House of Parliament or a meeting of both houses of Parliament from time to time as provided in article 54 (1) of the constitution of Pakistan. This is an important session given the array of priorities in the country and challenges in the region.
