Crucial Talks Today Between Goods Transporters and Government, Breakthrough Expected
KARACHI; Key talks are expected to be held today between goods transport unions and government officials, with hopes for positive outcomes.
Presidents of all Pakistan Goods Transport Alliance (APGTA) Malik Shahzad Awan, Punjab Transport Corporation (PTC) Muhammad Rizwan, and Sindh Transport Corporation (STC) Babar Mushtaq will meet with representatives of the federal, Punjab and Sindh governments at 3:00 PM at the Governor House to discuss the matter, he said in a video message. The Governor of Sindh, Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan, the Transport Ministers of Sindh and Punjab and other federal and provincial officials will attend the meeting.
He pointed out that their peaceful countrywide strike has been ongoing for the last nine days, during which transporters are protesting in the country. He expressed his hope that problems will soon be resolved and the wheels of transport will start turning. He has appealed to transporters nationwide to maintain peace and said they will not depend on verbal assurances given by the government as the strike will continue until demands are met.

Muhammad Awais Chaudhry Advocate, President of the All Pakistan Goods Transport Owners Association also had the word of hope of a possible breakthrough during the top-level talks at the Sindh Governor House today.
He said that the government should not refuse their lawful demands and legitimate needs as transporters will do their duty to make the talks successful. He said but government representatives must stick to promises, or the strike will not end, adding that transporters will be ready to extend the action if required for another 10 days.
They are not in a hurry to put an end to the strike, the only thing that they ask is that the government shows sincerity and reaffirms the unity of the transport community,” he added.
