Pakistan Celebrates 79th Independence Day with Guard-Changing Ceremony at Mazar-e-Quaid
KARACHI; Pakistan is celebrating 79th Independence Day in a very enthusiastic and patriotic manner. The day began with 21 gun salute at the Federal and Provincial capitals and special prayers were performed for Fajr for the nation’s progress, unity, peace and prosperity.
One of the most significant events in the national festivities was the iconic and majestic ‘changing of the guard’ ceremony at the shrine of Father of the Nation Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah in Karachi.
A ceremonial guard of honour was taken at the Mazar by the Pakistan Naval Academy cadets who were smartly turned out. Traditionally, on August 14, Pakistan Navy cadets assume these solemn duties.
The ceremonial honor guard includes two separate contingents; one made up of Pakistan Navy sailors and the other of the cadets of the Naval Academy. The Commandant Pakistan Naval Academy Rear Admiral Muhammad Umair was the Chief Guest who laid floral wreath at Quaid’s grave and offered Fateha.
