Government Decides to Convene National Assembly and Senate Sessions
ISLAMABAD:The Federal Government has officially called the National Assembly and Senate for their sessions on August 17.
After consulting extensively with coalition partners, the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs has sent the official summary to convene the Parliamentary sessions. Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, the Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, gave details to the media, informing them that the Senate meeting will be held at 4:00 PM on August 14 and the National Assembly meeting will be held at 5:00 PM.
Dissenting from the notion of differences with the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) kicking the can, Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry strongly asserted that the relationship was healthy. He explained that there is no delay because of coalition partners and emphasized that the government has no difference or disagreement with any allied party.
The dates of the sessions are always decided after the government allies and opposition have been consulted, the minister added. In addition, separate consultative meetings have already taken place with the chief whips of the PPP, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to ensure parliamentary proceedings go smoothly, he added.
