Mall Road Attack Warns of Sept 27 Threats: Talal Chaudhry

Minister Talal Chaudhry says the Mall Road attack warns of more trouble on September 27, blaming opposition leaders for spreading hate.

Islamabad ; Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry has cautioned against similar security threats in the upcoming protests on Mall Road on September 27 as recently, one incident took place on the Mall Road.

Chaudhry stated that the government will not let anyone destabilise Pakistan in the political sphere at a press conference in the Pakistani capital Islamabad. He said that if the police officials are attacked, it would “be taken very seriously.”

Both the events on May 9 and the attack on Mall Road were orchestrated by a culture of hatred and division and the opposition, Chaudhry asserted, was responsible for creating that. He condemned remarks and social media posts that ridicule national martyrs.

The minister however condemned those of the opposition who sought to get distance from the attacker, saying that the suspect had direct connections with the party and continued his stay at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House. He emphasized the need for leadership to not be able to simply excuse themselves from the involvement of the active workers after prodding them.

He added that there was a clear and independent inquiry into the Mall Road incident ongoing which would be shared soon.
