FAISALABAD: Prime Minister’s Advisor on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah has admitted the public’s concerns over the prevailing inflation are justified, but that the real culprit for the price rise is not the mismanagement of domestic affairs, but the international turmoil and policies of US President Donald Trump.

In Faisalabad, Rana Sanaullah pointed out Iran had played a role in the conflict while Pakistan had long pleaded both countries to adhere to a ceasefire. He said Pakistan had earned a prominent place in the world by taking a keen interest in the conflict resolution efforts to help bring an end to the war.

The main points of Rana Sanaullah’s speech were highlighted in Faisalabad.
Global Factors Responsible for Inflation: Rana Sanaullah stated that the current economic situation was being due to the disruption in the region, particularly the closure of Strait of Hormuz and stopping of gas supplies from Qatar which has led to the rise of energy and commodity prices. He said that after the full victory of the war, petroleum prices and fuel prices will drop considerably bringing about economic recovery and economic prosperity.

Tribute to Diplomatic Mediation: Sanaullah highlighted the role of regional diplomacy and pointed out that Pakistan had helped obtain a ceasefire between Iran and the United States, which he attributed to the hard efforts and dedication of Field Marshal Asim Munir in averting a bigger catastrophe in the region.

Energy and Economic Outlook: Reiterating that contracted gas supplies from Qatar have been able to reach Pakistan despite the blockades in the region, he expressed hope that the permanent cessation of conflict will lead to a normalization of national economic indicators and fill the people’s relief.
