Anti-Terrorism Court Issues Arrest Warrants for Five Accused, Including Sohail Afridi, Taimur Saleem Jhagra, and Kamran Bangash, in Radio Pakistan Attack Case

PESHAWAR: The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) has formally issued arrest warrants against five accused persons including key political figures in the Radio Pakistan Attack case from May 9.

The development has taken place as the public prosecutor had taken the police challan to the Anti-Terrorism Court. Key accused, such as Sohail Afridi, Kamran Bangash, Taimur Saleem Jhagra and other co-accused in the formal charge sheet have been identified.

Key highlights of the ATC Proceedings and Forensic Confirmation:
Arrest Warrants: The Anti-Terrorism Court noted that the formal challan has already been filed, and the name of the accused persons—including Sohail Afridi, Kamran Bangash, Taimur Saleem Jhagra and two more—has been specifically mentioned, ordering the issue of arrest warrants for the three immediately.

The court had earlier directed the verification of identity with the help of the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) and the Punjab Forensic Science Agency (PFSA) in response to an application filed by Radio Pakistan. The physical presence of the accused at the crime scene during the attack was confirmed by both the institutional reports.

Police Investigation Findings: The findings of the police investigation clearly show that Sohail Afridi, Taimur Saleem Jhagra and Kamran Bangash were present at Radio Pakistan’s office on May 9 of the violence, setting the stage for more formal action.
