Political Tension Should Never Escalate to the Point of Triggering Governor’s Rule; Solutions Lie in Mutual Tolerance and Finding Middle Ground, Stresses PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan
ISLAMABAD: The political crisis within the country should not be taken to the extent that leads to Governor’s Rule, as all political deadlocks can be solved with tolerance and seeking a middle ground, says PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan.
During the media interaction in Islamabad, Barrister Gohar had pointed out that political opponents take advantage of the emergency situation to further their agenda, adding with firmness that PTI has never had any association with the violent elements or hooliganism in politics as violence has no place in a democratic system.
The following are the highlights of President of Pakistan’s Lawyers’ Forum (PTI) Barrister Gohar Ali Khan’s media talk in Islamabad.
Denial of Political Space: The PTI chairman pointed out that a major political party and its leadership are systematically being denied the fundamental right to engage in normal political activities, reaffirming that PTI is not against national institutions but firmly stands for the supremacy of law.
On Parliamentary Meetings: Barrister Gohar explained that their internal organisational matters were part of their meetings in the Parliament, which was being needlessly sensationalised by their opponents.
He described the ban on the PTI’s founding chairman from meeting his family as a denial of family visits and called for urgent relief, and respect for his basic human rights.
