Maulana Fazlur Rehman Should Return to Play on His Own Pitch Instead of Taking Over PTI’s Vacated Space; Governor’s Rule in KP Imposed Out of Necessity, States Special Assistant Ikhtiar Wali
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister’s Special Assistant Ikhtiar Wali has advised the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman not to encroach on the ground of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) but to return to his own political platform as the federal government would be his supporting partner for provincial development.
During the press conference, Wali mentioned that in the past years, former military dictator Pervez Musharraf was allowed to suspend the constitution under the MMA leadership of Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Qazi Hussain Ahmed, and changes of the past years were approved and accepted by the parliamentarians.
Some of the main points from the Islamabad Press Conference by Special Assistant Ikhtiar Wali were:
Necessity of Governor’s Rule: Wali also claimed Governor’s Rule was a constitutional necessity, which had to be implemented in KP as soon as possible, pointing out that the family of Maulana Fazlur Rehman, his family and many others had been immensely affected by the terror.
Improvements in Security: Wali said citizens used to live in fear of travelling anywhere, but one day the province would be safe with no no-go areas, and education and health system would be rejuvenated, and the police would be depoliticized and land mafia and car lifters would be wiped out.
Special assistant urged Maulana Fazlur Rehman to move back to his political roots, using a statement to appeal to him with the theme of mutual respect, saying that Maulana didn’t look in place wearing PTI’s shoes. He also said the government’s heart was soft towards JUI-F chief and it deeply respects him as it hoped they could work together to build a self-reliant Pakistan but noted that there had been a backward movement in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for 13 to 14 years in the wake of global clock movement.
