TEHRAN : The emergence of a new defense agreement between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkey has been welcomed by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian who termed the trilateral association a very positive development for the Muslim world.
During an interview with Al Jazeera television, Pezeshkian said that Muslims need to come together and Iran is ready to cooperate in this process, but it is not yet clear what the final arrangements will be made under the Makkah Defense Agreement.
The highlights of Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian’s interview.
Islamic Unity: Pezeshkian said that this diplomatic and defense advance will be an important step toward unity of the Islamic countries instead of being split into warring factions, and will help to promote unity within Islam.
Breaking the Barriers of Regionalism: The Iranian President emphasized that when Muslims sit together for dialogue they should understand there is no isolated Arab, Turkic or Iranian nation in the world but a single Muslim community. To promote the idea of ‘common creation’, he urged the countries to follow the instructions of the Creator, not in the spirit of party.
