Maulana Fazlur Rehman Demanding a Share by Treating Governor’s Rule as Spoils of War, States Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry; Emphasizes Move Aimed at Countering Terrorism

ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, has taken a slam dunking at JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman in a scathing attack over the imposition of Governor’s Rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, claiming that he was treating the imposition as a “bounty” or “spoils of war” to demand a political share.

Chaudhry said that it was very disappointing to see that Fazlur Rehman, who is considered to be one of the most experienced politicians of the country, was indulging in such opportunistic activities.

Federal Action as Last Resort: Chaudhry said that the state of emergency was declared at the federal level only when the negotiation under the leadership of Maulana Fazlur Rehman didn’t work out.

He said the administration’s visit to KP wasn’t to set up a political regime, and the emergency period is a temporary one: “There are active efforts to restore the normal democratic political process as quickly as possible. In critical remarks on PTI and TTP Nexus, the minister pointed out that the leader of JUI-F had been defeated in two constituencies in the last eleven years, yet, TTP had always issued press releases supporting the PTI leaders’ campaigns.

Talal Chaudhry warned those aiding terrorists of a firm resolve of the state to extend the security forces’ reach beyond national borders, if required, to track down those elements “operating behind terrorism” as the state would take “firm legal action” against “anyone who is in the company of terrorism”.
