Saudi-Led Coalition Intercepts Houthi Drones and Missiles Over Riyadh and Red Sea; Destroys Launchers in Saada While Trump Suggests Accepting Israeli Support

RIYADH : The Saudi-led military alliance has announced its effective interception and destruction of a number of aerial threats fired by the Houthis militia against different areas, including drones and cruise missiles.

The coalition downed three Houthi drones over Riyadh, a ballistic missile in Yanbu and two cruise missiles, which were flying in mid-air in the Red Sea, according to military statements.

The key highlights of the Coalition interceptions and regional developments are as follows:
The Saudi Alliance said it has effectively destroyed two ballistic missile launchers in Saada province in Yemen in parallel operations, which could fire projectiles toward the Kingdom. In the meantime, Houthis also attacked the airport in Aden with rockets, but there were no reports of casualties in the Aden airport attacks.

US President Donald Trump made remarks regarding Israeli assistance to Saudi Arabia in the face of the violence going on in the region, suggesting that the Saudi government should look into accepting Israeli help in dealing with Houthis’ aggression. Trump applauded Saudi defense capabilities and believed that Saudi Arabia is on the path to a bright and promising future.

Regional Security Context: The aerial escalation was the latest sign of continuing security concerns throughout the Arabian Peninsula, where defence forces continue to maintain high levels of security, given the persistent threat from projects fired across the border.
