Collective Funeral Prayers Offered in Peshawar for School Tragedy Victims; Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Takes Immediate Notice and Orders Strict Action Against Responsible Parties
PESHAWAR : The whole town of Peshawar was in a somber mood and tears as collective prayers were offered for the innocent kids who lost their lives in the tragic incident of the collapse of the school building in Dir Colony.
The funeral prayers were held with the participation of the grieving citizens, local dignitaries and the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi to pay their final respects to the young victims.

However, Prime Minister’s Notice and Intervention: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was instantly alerted to the catastrophic scene and directed hospitals to provide top-class medical treatment to all the injured victims while asking authorities to submit a comprehensive report.
Governor Kundi briefed PM over the ground realities of the tragedy via telephonic contact with the Governor Faisal Karim Kundi. Kundi said the owner of the school has already been detained by the police for criminal negligence and a transparent and objective investigation has been started. PM Shehbaz Sharif ordered the authorities to take strict measures against all responsible entities.
Casualties and Completion of Rescue Operations: The terrible tragedy in Dir Colony took the lives of 35 people (two female teachers and six young girls) and injured 53 others. Search and rescue (SAR) efforts at the three-story school site have been completed with emphasis now placed on post-disaster inquiries and medical care of survivors.
