The MQM leaders thanked the federal government for taking the required measures to protect the country from terror. In addressing a media briefing, Farooq Sattar, senior MQM leader stated on the presidential decree issued by President Asif Ali Zardari, “Let it not be that Governor’s Rule is also imposed in Sindh with the stroke of the president’s pen”.
The key points of MQM’s position and Farooq Sattar’s comments
Call to Eradicate Militancy in Sindh: Farooq Sattar said there was an urgent need to eliminate the terrorists and active militancy cells in Sindh and the provincial government should take sufficient security measures.
Questioning PPP’s Stance: Sattar questioned the political alignment in this regard after Murad Ali Shah said the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) is opposed to Governor’s Rule, saying that if President Asif Ali Zardari is playing solo, then PPP should make this clear or if it wants to avoid the situations, then it should take some action against the criminal networks.
Support for Federal Security Steps: The MQM leadership also restated that national security takes precedence over any regional politics and all constitutional measures are acceptable to eradicate the phenomenon of terrorism and to bring stability to the federation.
