JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman Rejects Emergency and Governor’s Rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa; Terms Administrative Takeover an Attack on Democracy
ISLAMABAD: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) has vehemently opposed the imposition of a state of emergency and Governor’s Rule in KP, calling the federal government’s steps as an attack on democratic values.
During a press conference in Islamabad, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said the party will fight back against this unconstitutional move and will ask the people to rise to protest against it while also seeking recourse in the parliament and courts.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s Press Conference was characterized by key highlights.
Governor’s Rule is a “stabbing in the back of democracy”, the JUI-F chief said, denouncing the administrative takeover.
Medication Efforts: Maulana Fazlur Rehman explained that after his return from Umrah on October 7, he had been approached by a team from the PTI which had asked him to be a mediator. Later the leaders of the National Assembly and federal ministers also called on him to defuse the tensions.
He said that after his meeting, PTI has decided to limit its long-chain protests to the province and has applied for meetings with the jailed founding chairman. Despite mediation, the government decided to implement the emergency declaration after he directly contacted KP leaders including Sohail Afridi, Barrister Gohar and Shahram Tarakai, and consulted the prime minister early in the morning.
