Circumstances in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Call for Emergency Due to Chief Minister’s Conduct, Says PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari; PTI Must Shun Extremist Politics

KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, has said that emergency or Governor’s Rule is not their intention, but the actions and confrontational approach of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister are making it more and more likely.

At an event to inaugurate a sports complex in Baldia Town, Karachi, the PPP chairman touched on a variety of national political matters, counter-terrorism concerns and the standoff with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

The Highlights of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s Speech & Political Commentary
Stance on KP Emergency and CM’s Conduct: Bilawal said that because of security challenges coming from the Afghanistan border, KP is essentially in state of war and if an emergency is to be called in KP, then it is the direct result of the provocative role and non-cooperation of the Chief Minister. He said that the federal government opted against using Governors Rule because he and his colleagues advised them to use it as the last resort, and that is exactly what was done.

Chairman to PTI to Shun Extremism: The chairman took a scathing jibe at PTI’s confrontational approach, urging it to refrain from street agitation and extremist politics. “Those in jail will not be there forever” as President Asif Ali Zardari has spent 14 years behind bars and “aggressive politics will do more harm to the PTI supporters than to the PTI itself”, he added.

Support for the Dialogue and Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s role: Bilawal underlined the importance of dialogue in the political wisdom, and welcomed Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s efforts to bring a positive change in the country by encouraging him to continue with mediation efforts, while wishing that the peaceful way of solution is successful in resolving the deadlocks. He also said that there will be an Electoral Reforms Committee in place soon to resolve the issues of transparency.

Development and Positive Politics in Karachi: Bilawal spoke about the positive politics of the party, which had invested funds in creating new sports complexes, water projects, and expanding the Thar coal, as opposed to the days of killings and divisions and reiterated the party’s stand on peace, public relief and democratic representation.
