Government Negotiating Committee Meets JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman; Briefs Him on Reasons Behind Failed Talks with PTI

ISLAMABAD: As the political wrangling escalates and Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s political agenda begins to take the shape of a political movement, with the JUI-F becoming political, the federal government has begun its efforts to engage in dialogue with the religious-political leader, sending a high-level negotiating team to meet with him.

The high-level government delegation led by National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq approached Maulana Fazlur Rehman on the instructions of the Prime Minister with a view to confiding in him on the issue of government-opposition talks held recently, according to sources.

The following are some of the highlights of the meeting between Government and JUI.
The government delegation briefed the JUI-F chief on every aspect of why the talks with the PTI are in a deadlock and it pointed out that the government has nothing to do with that.

One of the main reasons for the opposition’s failure to cooperate with the government on national security and counter-terrorism measures was rejected by the government, which they pointed out was the main factor in the failure of the negotiations.

Speaker Ayaz Sadiq’s Stance: In the meeting, Speaker Ayaz Sadiq said that as a facilitator he did his utmost to ensure the success of the dialogue and will continue to work hard for political solutions.

In response, Maulana Fazlur Rehman emphasized the need to address national problems through ongoing dialogue, stressing the importance of maintaining communication between both parties.
