Pakistan Navy Intercepts Vessels in Arabian Sea, Seizes $96 Million Worth of Narcotics Hidden in Secret Compartments
ISLAMABAD ; The Pakistan Navy has successfully intercepted two boats far off the coast of Pakistan in the Arabian Sea in a significant anti-narcotics bust resulting in the seizure of a huge consignment of illegal drugs.
The Pakistan Navy ship PNS Yarmook conducted two successive successful anti-narcotics operations, on both of which drugs worth the value of international narcotics market of $96 million were seized, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
It will be recalled that the Pakistan Navy Operation was characterized by the following key highlights:
In the targeted operations, navy personnel uncovered some 850 kg of Ice (Methamphetamine) and 2,000 kg of hashish in highly sophisticated concealed compartments in two dhow-type vessels.
Confiscated Narcotics: The seized narcotics were placed under official control and will be turned over to competent authorities for further action and destruction.
Prime Minister’s Commendation: The Prime Minister, hon’ble Mr. Shehbaz Sharif, congratulated the officers and sailors of Pakistan Navy for its successful operations and applauded the efforts made by Pakistan in the ongoing fight against the unlawful trafficking through sea lanes.
Ongoing vigilance: The military official said Pakistan Navy is conducting 24/7 surveillance and vigilance in the waters of the region and the operations against maritime smuggling will never stop.
