Provincial Government Fully Functional, Governor Holding Unconstitutional Meetings, States CM Sohail Afridi

Provincial Government Is Fully Functional; Governor is Holding Unconstitutional Meetings, States KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi

PESHAWAR: The Chief Minister of KP Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sohail Afridi has protested the recent move of the Governor, saying that it is a meeting of unconstitutional nature and an attack on provincial autonomy.

Chief Minister Sohail Afridi stated that the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is governed by popular government elected by two-thirds majority of the people and that, governor is holding parallel administrative session which is unconstitutional.

Defense of Constitutional Norms: Afridi had said that the provincial government would also obtain formal legal opinion from the Advocate General on the constitutional standing of such parallel meetings, indicating that there are formal legal procedures to remove a chief minister and no one will be allowed to usurp the democracy.

The Federal and Provincial Attitude in the Light of Provincial Grievances.

The Chief Minister has questioned the federal government for their step motherly attitude towards KP, noting that the tribal areas have not yet been integrated and given the same financial treatment as other provinces, and that KP’s security setup is fully capable of addressing law and order issues.Intentional Provocation:

Afridi had held that the governor’s controversial activities were aimed at creating crises in the region on a regular basis, while he was backed by citizens and police of KP, who would never surrender their rights and security.
