KP Government Backtracked on Commitments in the Final Stage of Negotiations, States Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi
ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister Mohsin Naqvi has said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government backed off of its pledges in the final stages of the political dialogues, adding that provincial security should not be gambled on political posturing in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province during a time of war.
Naqvi said in the official statement, published on social media, the KP government had earlier agreed to present a comprehensive implementation plan in 72 hours on critical counter-terrorism measures.
Some of the main points of the statement by the Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi are highlighted below:
Failing to fulfill commitments: Breach of the commitments in the Provincial Government’s Police Act 2026 review is an issue raised by Naqvi as there is no security reality to consider, so far.
Proposed understanding involved the clear condemnations of militant groups like TTP and TTA, backing for the national policy on Afghan refugees and a commitment to dismantle independent linkages with the interim Afghan government.
Apart from this, KP authorities had agreed to sufficient funds for counter-terrorism and police forces, full provincial responsibility for anti-terrorism measures, cooperation with the military, and a strong resolve on enacting the National Action Plan.
