Over 7.5 Million Citizens Benefit from Fuel Relief Scheme Since September 15, States Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif
ISLAMABAD: More than 7.5 million citizens have already successfully availed of the Prime Minister Fuel Relief Scheme since its inception on 15th September, and have got vital relief for the owners of motorcycles, rickshaws, and vehicles with up to 800 cc of engine capacity, according to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who has expressed his high level of satisfaction.
The prime minister, heading a high-level review meeting in Islamabad, re-affirmed his government’s firm resolve to safeguard the middle class against the adverse effects of high global petroleum prices during the meeting.
The key findings of the review of the Fuel Relief Scheme are summarised below:
High utilisation indices: Leaders briefed the meeting, saying that more than 8.4 million people have registered for the petrol subsidy programme, and beneficiaries of the subsidy have already crossed 7.5 million. Of the 12.2 million subsidy tokens issued, 10.3 million have been successfully redeemed so far.
Nationwide Implementation: The scheme has been rolled out for the third week now, and is in full operation in 129 districts across the country, with all designated petrol pumping stations functioning smoothly, readily accommodating citizens.
Appreciation for Team Collaboration: PM Shehbaz praised the harmonious and effective efforts of the government machinery, the Minister for IT, Information, Economic Affairs and Finance and OGRA, expressing his gratitude that the developed database for this purpose would be a valuable asset for the future implementation of citizen-centric programs.
Operational Support Systems: The meeting was briefed on the existence of a 24-hour working call center to guide citizens and fuel station owners and the ongoing assistance by the Prime Minister’s Public Affairs Unit and fuel station representatives to the citizens in the registration process.
