PTI Decides to Stage Multi-Day Stay in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Prior to Islamabad Long March, Chief Minister to Lead from Dera Ismail Khan

PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has changed its strategy for Islamabad long march, and has opted for setting initial staging points in KP before advancing towards the federal capital.

The long march is due to begin on October 4, which is a rescheduling from the party’s original time frame of late September, according to party insiders. Provincial leadership will provide convoys that primarily will run through different districts in the province.

Key Strategy & Route Adjustments
Leadership and Departure Points: Proposals under consideration are about starting the march from Dera Ismail Khan with Chief Minister Sohail Afridi leading the drive. The provincial president Junaid Akbar Khan will try to lead the columns coming from Malakand.

The new plan for Extended Staging in KP: The extended staging in KP will be a multi-day process with a view to consolidating party workers and creating momentum. There are also plans to establish special tent camps for participants close to Swabi or the Attock Bridge.

Finalized date October 4 after parties’ internal consultations – an effort to bring all things to a maximum of readiness ahead of the capital demonstrations.
