Flydubai Temporarily Suspends All Flights to Israel Pending Investigation Into Mid-Air Cockpit Security Incident
DUBAI: Budget carrier Flydubai has officially announced that it will temporarily suspend all scheduled flights to and from Israel from today.The airline’s management stated that it will keep its operations heading to Israel suspended until detailed investigations into the security incident that happened aboard are finalized.
Suspension and Investigation Background of the Emergency: The suspension is the result of a security breach in the middle of a flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv (FZ1073), which led to an unscheduled emergency landing at Tabuk Airport, northwest of Saudi Arabia.
Cockpit Altercation and Interventions: The incident inside the cockpit mid-flight has been reported by international news agencies and was said to have created a situation that required passengers and crew to take quick steps to secure the aircraft.
Passenger Transfer and Support: After safe landing in Saudi Arabia, those affected passengers have been subsequently transferred on another flight to the final destination of Israel. Flydubai said it was “fully cooperating with regional authorities and relevant aviation authorities to identify the exact motives and factors behind the incident.
