Afghanistan’s Situation Highly Complex, Wide Gap Exists Between Citizens and Interim Government, Stresses Information Minister Attaullah Tarar
ISLAMABAD: The situation in Afghanistan is very complex, There is a great disconnect and gap between the common people and the interim government,” said Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar.Speaking at a public event in Islamabad, the Information Minister pointed out that most of the challenges that are facing Afghanistan are direct outcome of long-standing militant mentality.

Tarar said Afghanistan’s people, including women and youth, deserve basic rights, including education, freedom of assembly, freedom of association and economic freedom.
He emphasised the importance of providing Afghan citizens with a voice and authority in shaping their own future. Breaking entrenched militant thinking: Tarar urged the interim government to leave behind its militant thinking and to shift towards a statesmanlike and responsible one, which is concerned with the welfare of its citizens.
Regional Stability and Trade: Tarar emphasized that regional peace is the basis for prosperity and stability in Afghanistan would pave the way to boost the economic potential of the country, create trade routes across the region and give landlocked Central Asian states access to warm waters.
Security, firm stance: The minister reiterated Pakistan’s policy of peace and dialogue, however, it is imperative that the principle of “live and let live” be adhered to and any act of hostility or attempt to destabilize Pakistan would get a strong and decisive response.
